AI, in plain English.
The terms we use across Vitality Canvas, explained without the jargon. We keep this current as the toolkit grows.
← Back to homeA
- AI (Artificial Intelligence)
- Software that can do tasks which normally need human thinking, like writing, summarising, or answering questions. In a practice, think of it as a capable assistant for repetitive work.
- AI Agent
- An AI that carries out a multi-step task for you, not just a single answer. You give it a goal and it works through the steps, with you reviewing the result.
- AI Skill
- A small, focused AI tool built for one job, like formatting a pathology result or drafting a newsletter. Vitality Canvas releases new skills to the community over time.
- Allied Health
- The professions that support health alongside doctors, such as nutritionists, naturopaths, physiotherapists, and chiropractors.
- Automation
- Letting software handle a repetitive task automatically, so you do not do it by hand every time.
C
- Chatbot
- An AI you talk to in plain language, like ChatGPT. Useful, but a blank slate: it does not know your practice unless you tell it.
- ChatGPT
- A popular general-purpose AI chatbot. Vitality Canvas builds on the same kind of technology but shapes it into ready-made tools for practitioners.
E
- Executive Pathology Panel
- A Vitality Canvas app that turns blood pathology results into something a practitioner can act on.
H
- Hallucination
- When an AI states something confidently that is not actually true. It is why a human always reviews AI output before it is used with a client.
L
- LLM (Large Language Model)
- The type of AI behind chatbots. It works with language to write, summarise, and answer, and it is the engine under most AI skills.
M
- Metabolic Balance
- A personalised nutrition programme. Karen runs the number-one Metabolic Balance practice in Australia, and several Vitality Canvas tools were proven there first.
- Model
- The underlying AI system that does the thinking. Different models suit different jobs; the right skill picks the right one for you.
P
- Practical AI
- AI used for real, everyday jobs in a practice, such as admin, marketing, and drafting, rather than hype.
- Prompt
- The instruction you give an AI. A clear prompt gets a better result; a good skill handles the prompting for you.
R
- Responsible AI
- Using AI safely and ethically, with human oversight, respect for client confidentiality, and awareness of the rules around AI in healthcare.
V
- Vitality Canvas
- A one-page plan for your whole practice (a business-model canvas for allied health), plus a community and toolkit, with practical AI to run the busywork behind it.
W
- Workflow
- The set of steps you follow to get a job done. AI skills slot into your workflow to remove the tedious parts.
